Hello everyone,
I took a moment to make a quick update of the plugin.

This update includes:

  • Added: The number of external outputs have been extended to 24 stereo channels
  • Added: External outputs for send FX
  • Added: Alternative triggers for snare and timbales (allows to play rolls more easily on MIDI KB)
  • Fix: The output names in the output menus are now correct
  • Fix: The external outputs were not working past the 12th output channel
  • Fix: The OpenGL option appears now in the Settings panel (activate the option if you're experiencing a laggy GUI)
  • Fix: Some MIDI loops names and details have been corrected
  • Minor internal changes
  • Minor performance optimizations

You can download the new version here:

Dread Drumz v0.9.1 WIN
Dread Drumz v0.9.1 MacOS

Note that these will install the plugin ONLY, not the entire package.
Just to be sure, I'd suggest to make a backup copy of the old version of the plugin before installing this one.

Let me know if something isn't working correctly.

Cheers

Amazing Matt, thank you so much for the update.

New channel naming scheme is perfect, really appreciate the extension to 24 tracks too, always useful.

The Send channel routing works perfectly, this is exactly what I hoped for :D thank you!

One issue I have encountered is that I have set up all of my channel routings in Dread Drumz and saved them to a drum rack in Ableton Live. When I reload the drum rack in Live though, only Send channel routings recall, the mixer channels reset back to 'Master'. Not sure what you've done differently for the Sends, but yeah, they recall just fine, if you could check that out for us?

Many thanks
Kevin

Hello everyone, and Happy new year to you all!

I've updated the plugin to v0.9.2.
Here's what's new:

  • Added: Output Routing setup is stored when saving a DAW project AND while browsing presets
  • Added: A button to link the sampler's pitches
  • Added: If the internal MIDI play button is activated, the MIDI clips keep playing
  • Added: Clicking the 'Play' button on a mixer channel selects this channel
  • Fixed: Output Routing setup not being recalled on project load
  • Fixed: Several Sampler controls not being correctly recalled when changing presets
  • Fixed: The "Sync to Host" button state is no longer saved in the preset
  • Updated: preset files
  • Updated: MidiMap settings file

Dread Drumz v0.9.2 WIN
Dread Drumz v0.9.2 MacOS

Let me know if you find any issue.
Cheers!

Hi Matt, happy New Year!

Just tested 0.9.2 and that has fixed all of the issues I have detailed so far! Wonderful, this plugin is making great progress, I'll keep testing and see if any other issues crop up.

Many thanks
Kevin

Thanks Kevin!
If you're on MacOS, I'll advise to download the update again using the links above.
The installer failed to update a file related to the midi mapping, and thus lead to bugs in the plugin. I just fixed the installer.

If you're on Windows, nevermind, you're just fine.
Thanks!

I decided to have a little dig around the files which make up the Dread Drumz Library, and I see that each individual sound is made up of a .ch1 file. Is this a proprietary file format which you have cooked up, or can the files be converted to a more standard format. The reason I ask is that I am quite keen on using the drum sounds of Dread Drumz together with the beat creation facilities in Modalic's Beat Scholar plugin... https://www.modalics.com/beatscholar. If you can think of another way I can use the two products together without converting the .ch1 files, I'd love to hear it!

Also, any idea on the timescale for the rest of the MIDI library?

I’m guessing these are an encrypted wrapper for whatever sound file format was used. If I was Matt I’d be reluctant to allow the audio files out as a) they are impossible to copy protect/too easy to pirate and b) would undermine sale of the plugin. But Matt may be more generously minded than me.

Hi Matt,

I hadn't managed to download the 0.9.2 update for DreadDrums yet but the link seems to fail for me. Is ita problem at my end or has the link gone down?

Cheers

I just tested the links above and they are working ok. What kind of error do you get when attempting to download the plugin ?
Also, are you on MacOS or Windows ?

Sorry but ye, I don't plan to make the samples accessible. Indeed, it's a proprietary format that not only encrypts the samples to prevent sharing them but also compress the samples. The whole sample library weights roughly around 5Gb uncompressed, and 1Gb compressed.
One solution would be for you to record drums samples directly into you DAW. It's a bit time consuming but you can somewhat automate the process in the DAW.

Ah, and the library should be ready in end of January / early February :)
